Here’s wishing all of you a better and a safer year than the last one.Hope this year will bring fresh enlightenment, new beginnings and better relationships.
The end of last year left all of us in such a pall of gloom that I think majority of us in India would not have celebrated New Years’ Day.I, for one ,did not.It was a normal day for us and we went off to sleep after watching the 9 PM news which brought more disgust, helplessness and sadness rather than joy and hope.
In the morning, for the sake of the kids,my parents suggested that we take them to a local garden for a picnic.I agreed and it turned out to be quite a moodswinger.
We took them for a family outing to one of Allahabad’s oldest walled gardens- Khusro Bagh, surrounding the tombs of Khusrau Mirza , eldest son of emperor Jahangir, Shah Begum, Khusrau’s mother, a Rajput princess and Jahangir’s first wife, and that of Princess Sultan Nithar Begam , Khusrau’s sister. These sandstone mausoleums are an excellent example of Mughal architecture and are comparable to the more famous, Fatehpur Sikri in Agra.
Besides, there were lots of other revellers and families which had come out to celebrate the first day of the new year and both Munch and Perk had a lot of fun running around the entire periphery of the garden, which is also famous for its grove of luscious mango and guava trees.
I am leaving you with a few pictures…and wishes for a beautiful year ahead.
